The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the IQAC

Year of Report : 2007

 

      Part A  :     The plan of action chalked out by the IOAC in the beginning of the year towards quality  enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year.

         

            A) Transparent admission policy.

            B) Intimation of the rules and regulation, course structure, extension and  N.S.S. Activities through prospectus.

            C) Introduction of Computer Education.

            D) Maintaining lesson plan, unit plan, Diary maintaining.

            E) Holding regular classes, Unit test, Test Examination, screening Test,  Evaluating home assignment, holding departmental seminar talk.

            F)  Mentor ward system.

            G) Parent Teacher meet.

            H) Remedial Classes, Tutorial Classes, Seminar held.

            I)  Students’ feedback & teachers approval to be maintained.

            J)  Strict rules on the attendance of the students.

            K) Submission of assignments and seminar papers.

            L) Mentor ward system as a best practice.

 

                      Out come of the plan:

 

            1. Addmision proceeds on merit basis.

            2. Regular Classes, Tutorial Classes & Remedial Classes held.

            3. Lesson plan, Unit plan and daily diary maintained.

            4. Screening Test, Unit Test, Test Examination held.

            5. Parent’s meet held and suggestions are taken from parents.

            6. Mentor-ward system implemented, the students need motivation,   response from students not encouraging.

            7. Feedback collected at the end of the year.

            8. Students’ attendance and participation in academic activities increases,   Teacher-students relationship becomes friendly even students arrange  public meeting for felicitation of teachers on Teacher’s Day. Students’          participation in academic and co-curricular activities increased.

 

           Part B:  

           1.  Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:

                                 To translate the goals and objectives of the Institution into reality, Under graduate Arts syllabus has been followed Commerce as well as career oriented course has also been proposed. As a part of academic activity departmental seminars are held, Dept. of Assamese and Pol. Science held departmental seminars. Human Rights Day observed. Various competition   held during college week. Extension programmes NSS camp and cultural programmes are  conducted. Remedial Teaching going on and proposal also given for the welfare of the backward drop out students.

            2.   New academic programmes initiated (UG and PG):

                                PGDCA course has been persued. The UGC has sanctioned the proposal of introducing carrer oriented course like Travel and Tourism.

             3.   Innovations in curricular design and transaction:

                               Seminar held, assignment given, student’s participation encouraged.

              4   Inter-disciplinary programmes started:

                                 Travel and Tourism is going to be introduced.

              5.   Examination reforms implemented:

                               Centre committe members are motivated to visit the examination halls,   Seat arrangement planned, Unit Test and Class Test are held. Emphasis given on Unit test, steps taken to prevent unfair means, student’s participation encouraged.

                6.   Candidates qualified: NET/SLET/GATE etc.

                               Teachers are released from duty, granted leave and encouraged to participate in FDP.

            18.  Community services:

                         Socio-religious survey done, Temples, Darghas, Satra cleaned & fenced. After flood     medical cum health awareness camp arranged and medicines distributed. AIDS awareness    camp held, Seminar on Environment Awareness organised AIDS Rally Arranged. Both institution and community level activities on AIDS arranged. With the initiative of NS Unit of the   college, ten peer educators trained under GU NSS cell & state UNICEF Unit. Essay    competetion, Rally, Slogan writing, debate competetion on AIDS and positive life skill  arranged.Students group taken for educational tour to industry arranged by DIC. Dept. of   geography has taken education excursion.

                        Parmanent Library building construction completed, Boys common room is going to  be built, Books enhanced, Sports items bought. Construction of Girls hostel completed. The  proposed science building financed by Hajo Co-operative society has been completed.

                        Computerisation of library started. Laptop provision is given.

                28.    Computer and interest access and training to teachers and students:

                         Computer training started. Internet facility has been installed under UGC scheme.

                30.   Activities and support from the Alumni Association:

                          Alumni support us in conducting extension programme, culture and sports programme.                             

                31.  Activities and support from the Parent-Teacher Association:

                          We decided to hold a parent-teacher meet in every fourth saturday of the month.Parent-Teacher meet helps in suggesting us in administration, establishing relation between teacher, students and guardians for effective academic process & quality education.

                32.  Health services:

                          We installed drinking water supply, made procession for cleaning urinal,latrin, clasrooms as well as campus. We have ‘First Aid’ items. We have engaged a doctor for casual  visit.

                33. Performance in sports activities:

                          Students participate in indoor as well as outdoor games like carrom, badminton, volleyboll, and cricket. No student shine in state level or national level sports this year. One gymkhana is opened.

                34.  Incentives to outstanding sportspersons:

                          Outstanding Sportspersons are awarded certificate, medals, cups and trophy etc.

                 35. Student achievements and awards:

                          No special achievement and reward is awarded this year till date.

                 36.  Activities of the Guidence and Counselling unit:

                          Guidance and Councelling Units makes the students aware of the job oppurtunities, loan schemes, finance institutes for enterprises, sende students for training, industrial tours and arranges workshops and seminar etc.Workshop on Air Hostess and Hotel Management arranged for the greater interest of the students training of maintaining Accounts and office Management held.

                 37.  Placement services providedto students:

                         We make the students aware of vocations. No provision for placement of the student is available.

                      38.  Developement programmes for non-teaching staff:

                          The members of the non-teaching joined conference and employees meet. Some times experts are invited to trained them in required skill.

                     39.   Health practices of the institution:

                         The course being situated in the outskrit of the village we have a serene and peaceful  atmosphere. The functionaries from Prajapati Brahmakumari Isharia Biswavidyalaya, NSS programmes, cutting & knitting programmes , music classes, computer training are persued ‘Bandemataram’ sung to induce national zeal in the mind of the students. The English dept. introduced ‘ Spoken English Course’. While Economics dept. conducted ‘Cutting & Knitting Centers. A hotel/restaurant is well maintained.

                        UGC is directly related to us. SCERT, IIE, SIRD ICHR are some institutions linked  with us.

            Detail the plans of the institution for the next year.

                        1. Travel & Tourism Course is going to be introduced (Financed by UGC).

                        2. Computer Course like PGDCA has been persued.

                        3. Effective feedback system planned .

                        4. As a part of Best Practices Model Question Bank in each subject is to be given to student at the beginning of the year, And these will be done through assignement

                        5. Spoken English Course classes to be continued.

                        6. More career oriented course will be persued.

                        7. Auditorium is proposed for cultural complex.

                        8. Computerization of Accounts, Admission and Result of examinations  is going  to be done.
